The children have had their first encounter with statistics today by beginning to use, record with and interpret a tally chart. The children were given different piles of cubes which they needed to sort out into the different colours. Once they had sorted the colours out, they needed to record their findings using a tally chart. The children made sure sure that for every fifth line, the tally crossed through the others. The way that some of the children decided to organise their cubes looks a little bit like another form of data collection that the children will be discovering in the future weeks.
