Summer Civic Virtues

Today year three put into practice some of the civic virtues that they have learnt, courtesy was the first virtue of the day. Pupils identified (via  scenario cards) if individuals were being polite or not, they discussed how the individuals could improve their behaviour in order to be courteous.

Later on, year three did a wonderful job of sweeping up outside their classroom, feeding the birds, watering the plants, weeding the planters and even pruning the trees! Miss. Maxted heard what a brilliant job the children did so they then went to the reception outdoor area and courteously helped her to tidy up there.

Other virtues discussed during the day were honesty, self-discipline and determination. Pupils worked in teams to solve some difficult maths puzzles, involving creating shapes with straws. All pupils showed determination to solve the puzzles and spoke honestly about their emotions.
