Stunning Sugi Forest!

On Friday 25th March, pupils were selected from Years 1- 8, to plant our own Sugi forest in the grounds of Eastbrook school. James and his team explained to the pupils that they would be planting 1200 saplings, from 24 native varieties of trees. They would cover an area of 400 metres square and this would provide a sanctuary for insects and wildlife.

The children were very keen to get planting and with the assistance of some of our secondary pupils they got on with the job in hand in true horticultural style! After plants the multitude of saplings, they placed hay over the soil and roots to protect the trees. For some this was the highlight of the experience! We look forward to seeing our forest grow alongside our pupils!
