To enhance their Black History Month celebrations, Years 1 & 2 enjoyed a very exciting and interactive afternoon with Freshwater Theatre Company being immersed into stories from Africa. Inspired by African storytelling, pupils encountered characters such as Mmoboro the hornet, Onini the python and Osebo the leopard as the tale of how Anansi became king of all stories dramatically unfolded in front of their very eyes.

Next, the children became budding performers to create animated scenes from the story of ‘How the zebra got his stripes’. Some amazing animal costumes were worn.

Our little learners loved exploring the morals of these stories and learning all about the ancient oral traditions, Ashanti folk tales and well-known creation stories.
