Year 1 children were introduced to the new mathematical language of ‘more’, ‘fewer’ and ‘same’ today with the help of some delicious Smarties friends. After emptying their packets, our little learners were able to first sort the Smarties by colour and then make comparative sentences such as, “I have fewer green sweets than yellow ones.” or “I have the same amount of pink sweets as blue sweets.” Of course, everybody worked hard enough to eat their sweets at the end of the lesson.
