Pupils in Year 6 have been calculating ratio during their maths lessons this week. They used manipulatives (blocks) to physically demonstrate ratio and wrote statements related to the colour of the blocks they had. Next came the more exciting task of calculating the ratio of a box of Quality Street chocolates! Pupils arranged the sweets so they could see and count easily how many of each variety there were. You can see from the photographs if you like strawberry crèmes that you would have been happy with this box! If your favourite is the green triangle or choc bock then you would not be happy with the measly amount in our box! Pupils wrote ratio statements in their books about the amount of chocolates in the box and then they had a chance to select and eat their favourite sweet!
