Making Music Together

The children in Reception have been exploring different musical instruments in their Music lessons. They experimented with different movements to make sounds. They enjoyed shaking away with tambourines and bells, using their instruments to shake to the beat, some children even tapping along to keep the rhythm. The children got rather excited when they shook their instruments to a class favorite of jungle boogie!

Working in pairs, they worked beautifully together exploring the xylophone and the range of sound that it made. Curiously the children asked about the letters on the keys which lead to a discussion of notes and how they have different sounds. They played along and role-played different characters as they tapped to the Disney classic of under the sea!

The children finished playing the xylophones by coping letter patterns to make a tune, it was brilliant to see future musicians enjoying the music they were making.
