Year 4 have had a marvellous time getting their hands dirty in an immersive experience this week. In order to allow the children an opportunity to fully empathise with the characters, Shen and Sika,  from Pugs of the Frozen North, who are being blighted by the 50 types of snow, we decided to make our own fake snow. We followed a very simple recipe – with two ingredients – cornflour and shaving foam. Initially, the children were quite cautious  but after a short while, they became extremely excited as the texture of the mixture began to mimic that of real snow. The children thoroughly enjoyed this English lesson, many of them attempted to make snowmen and even a scene from the text.
