It’s Not Stanley’s Stick… It’s Mine!

The children in Reception took a trip down to the forest Tuesday morning, to start their new class story Stanley’s stick by John Hegley. As they read a few pages in, they found out about the main character Stanley who uses his imagination to make a stick into anything he wants. With this idea, the children set off in pairs to look for a stick that sparked their imagination. They came back with some wonderful ideas, like weather-changing sticks, ors from a boat, magic pencils, and glitter makers.

They were able to take turns and listen to their friends as they confidently shared their ideas. The children took their new toy of endless possibilities back to class to support their poem writing next week.
