In The Forest…Where Time Began

Year 1 headed over to the forest today, to begin their learning all about ‘time’. They showed excellent teamwork to create an analogue clock face together. The children collected forest treasure to represent the value of each digit on the clock, set out all of the numbers in the correct place and found sticks of different lengths to represent the minute and hour hands. By the end of the lesson, the children could successfully count round the clock in a clockwise direction and were even able to make ‘o’clock’ times accurately. The Year 10 students who had come to participate in today’s lesson were certainly impressed!

Tomorrow the children will get a chance to reinforce this learning by making their own split pin clock ready to take home to support with their next maths home learning task, where they can explain how to make and read ‘o’clock’ times confidently to their grown ups.
