The children in Reception have had an emotion-filled afternoon learning all about different facial expressions and body language and how that can express the way they are feeling. They showed so much respect to their friends as they shared during a circle time talking about how they felt today. Then, they played a game where they had to guess how Miss Maxted was feelings just by her face and her body language. The children were able to express how they were feeling , they were able to show the facial expression to match and even write down that emotion on the whiteboard. You can see from the expressive images how Reception were feeling.
Linking to the PSHE focus this week of understanding emotions, the children took a trip down to the Art Room to make some expressive models. They discussed how to shape a face from the clay and then how to make that face express a feeling. It has given the children more vocabulary and understanding of how to express themselves.
