Handling some History…

To start their new history topic of World War II, pupils were given the chance to handle some replica objects from the 1930s/1940s and discuss them. They were not told what each object was, other than it was related to World War II. Some objects were easy to name and describe how they were used in World War II but others flummoxed the pupils!

During the plenary or conclusion of the lesson, Mrs. Fernandes explained what each object was and even modelled the helmet and gas mask! She described that it was not pleasant wearing either object due to the weight, tightness and echoing sounds. The ration book that the pupils handled was a special item as it was an original ration book Mrs. Fernandes found in her loft at home!  The pupils cannot wait to learn more about World War II now…
