In Year 4, we have been reading and learning about the amazing life of Wangari Maathai, through the text Mama Miti. We had learnt about her drive to plant trees across Kenya and her astute knowledge of plants. Professor Wangari Maathai, is celebrated for saying, “I will be a hummingbird,” one person making an impact on the world and in that vain we are all trying to be that hummingbird.

Considering our impact on the environment led us to plant seeds today, which will grow to into trees which will in time bare fruit for us to enjoy. We had huge variety of plants: kidney beans, black eyed peas, cress seeds, cauliflower, pumpkin seeds and even onion seeds!

Like the hummingbird we are small but together we can have a significant impact.
