The literacy focus for the children in Reception has been the beautifully written and illustrated Bedtime for Monster by Ed Vere. The children have had so much fun with this text, they have created their own Monsters, a disgusting Monster Menu and had to come up with their own questions for a virtual interview with a Monster.

This week their learning has focused on the setting of the story, the children wrote short sentences to describe four settings from the book. They have shown off their improved letter formation and spacing. They went on to create their own, the children had to pick a time, a place and a describing word before creating their setting. At home and in the classroom the children got busy using their imaginations to come up with some very interesting settings.

The children’s confidence is growing when speaking in our virtual lessons, they have been polite and kind using their  listening skills and waiting to take their turn to unmute and contribute to the class.
