Busy Building Beasts

Year 1 surfaced their immense creativity today to create their own lonely beast character, based upon our PoR text, Chris Judge’s, ‘The Lonely Beast’. The children gave their hand muscles a firm work out to firstly warm up, flatten and shape the clay. They then showed great control using scalpels to create more precise and accurate shapes and details to replicate the Beast from the text as closely as possible.

The marvellous models have been left to dry over the weekend before being painted on Monday. Then comes the really fun bit…Year 1 will use their physical, shared experience to produce a beautifully written set of instructions on ‘How to make a lonely Beast’.

Truthfully, those beasts have been so fantastically produced, I think they will become a permanent fixture in our classroom and will never be lonely again.
