Forest Shelter Building

Year three had a great time in the forest this afternoon! Pupils were able to assemble sticks for a fire and one of the children was able to light the fire on his first attempt at using a flint and steel! He then proceeded to toast marshmallows for his class mates over the fire, the children agreed that he did a fantastic job! To accompany this there was also hot chocolate – yummy!

Next the children got into groups and constructed shelters using tarps and ropes, this coincides with characters in our class story making shelters in a forest. This was quite a tricky task and lots of our school virtues of perseverance and teamwork were required for this! However, the children were able to create some excellent shelters! They definately offered some protection from the warm sun this afternoon.
