Year 10 English Study Hub

On Tuesday 2nd November, the Year 10 English Study Hub will launch. This will take place in Brook Ground Floor between 3.30 and 4.15.

The Study Hub offers a university-style studying experience. Each week students have the option of attending a lecture or seminar – or they can conduct independent, silent study with revision resources provided.

As well as providing insight in to the university experience, the intervention is designed to support the work studied in class, consolidating, reinforcing and developing the ideas and concepts covered.

During this term the Study Hub will focus on An Inspector Calls.

This week students can choose from:

Lecture: Socialism, Marxism and Capitalism in An Inspector Calls (Ms Pearson)

Seminar: Priestley’s Message (Ms Lotter)

Seminar: Mr Birling – What Does Everyone Really Think Of Him? (Ms O’Leary)

Students can decide whether they would like to attend a lecture, seminar or study privately – but their teachers will be on hand to guide them.

The real incentive for attendance is to for students to improve their understanding of the texts and do as well as possible in their GCSEs next year – but students will be awarded PROUD points for attendance and those with full attendance will be entered in to a draw with the chance of winning a tablet computer.

We hope to see you there tomorrow.
