Week 8: Viva Mexico

Whilst the heat may have cooled, the temperature continued to rise this week at Eastbrook with a Mexican theme.

The Mexican flavour began with Mr Anderson teaching the students how to make chilli con carne and guacamole. Chefs were able to adapt the recipe adding extra spice to their taste and rather shockingly omitting kidney beans. Miss Pearson introduced students to the world of Mexican Wrestling with a particular focus on the use of masks. An art session followed where students designed their own sparkling Lucha Libre face coverings.

Crossing continents, Mrs O’Leary taught the students the art of origami – a skill which is certainly not as easy as it looks.

Back in the wilds of Dagenham, we spent a morning on the Chase, taking nature photographs with a prize for the best picture. Teachers selected four finalists before Mr Frith judged Alicia Monks’ ladybird portrait as the winner.

As well as starting each day with online learning, students spent the afternoons playing basketball, football and badminton tournaments.
