Competition Time

We all know that knife crime is a devastating part of modern society, but what can be done to prevent it?

The Borough of Barking and Dagenham have launched a competition for students aged 11-16. They’d like you to write a letter to the Prime Minister offering suggestions for how knife crime could be tackled in our Borough.

The winner of the competition will receive a £50 gift voucher as well as tablets for our school – and there are prizes for second and third place too. However, it’s not about the prizes… it’s the knowledge that your letter was the best! And who knows… maybe some of our suggestions will be listened to and put in to action.

Your ideas just might save lives!

Please give your entry to your English teacher by Friday 2nd July. It can be typed or handwritten but must be no longer than 1000 words. Make sure you have lots of ideas and strategies, but also think about how your write it:

Spelling, punctuation and grammar

Paragraphing and structuring

Persuasive devices (rhetorical questions, assertions, repetitions etc.)

I look forward to reading the entries.
