National Covid Study

National Covid Study Round 3

Students, Parents and Staff will be aware that Eastbrook has been playing its part in helping the country’s scientists better understand Covid19, and particularly how it transmits from one person to another, by taking part in a national research project during the Autumn term. We are very proud to be involved in such important work and thank all of those who have volunteered so far.

The 3rd round of this project is now approaching but this time there are one or two important differences.

This round of testing will only be for those students and staff who were not tested as part of rounds 1 and 2 – so we are looking for new volunteers to join the effort.
Students from years 9 and 10 can now be involved – previously it was only for Years 7 and 8

·         The tests will be posted to volunteers’ homes where they will conduct the tests themselves or with someone else’s help if necessary.

·         This test is solely to test for antibodies i.e. people who have had the disease in the past. As such, there won’t be any requirement for anyone to isolate if found to have been ‘positive’.

·         Please note – the test for students is non invasive and comfortable. It involves a swab similar to a lolly stick being rubbed on the gums for a few moments.

I want to urge everyone who has not yet taken part in these vital tests to do so this time around. The deadline for registration is 5:00pm Wednesday 27th January so please ensure you have registered before then. The link for this is
