Our Year 1 learners have been very busy helping out Boris Johnson and other members of the government by putting forward their designs and creations to be included in a new London landmark memorial to Sir Captain Tom Moore. Following the sad news of Sir Tom’s passing last week, Year 1 wanted to show their respect and gratitude towards this man’s remarkable life and all of his recent efforts to support the work of our wonderful NHS during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Seeing as Year 1 have also been using the text ‘Katie in London’ by James Mayhew in their English lessons, this creative task linked beautifully with their recent learning about existing famous London landmarks. Who knows Year 1, maybe one day people will be exploring London and stumbling across your design. Anything is possible!
