The Rain Won’t Stop Our Furry Friends

The children in Reception had a wonderful surprise Tuesday when the Wellgate farm set up their mobile visit outside their classroom window. They couldn’t wait to get out there to learn about their farm friends and give them a pet. Off they went and were greeted by the lovely staff and volunteers from the farm along with goats, sheep, rabbits, and guinea pigs.

The children were able to hand-feed the animals their different foods, they loved feeding the goats as you can see. Along with grooming them using brushes, the children showed their gentle kind hands throughout the experience. For some, it was a new and quite daunting experience but they faced their fears and by the end of the day were sitting with animals on their lap.

They learned many facts about the farm animals and made sure to ask lots of questions throughout the day.  The rabbits were a firm favorite with lots of the children choosing to draw them in the English task set in the afternoon, still talking about how cute and fluffy they were, along with how grateful they were to meet them. We were so impressed at the children’s brilliant attitude and they didn’t let the wet and windy weather spoil their fun!
