Ring, Ring, String Telephones!

With the whole school science week excitement the children in Reception decided they wanted to investigate, make, and test string telephones! They started their learning by exploring sounds, playing a guess-the-sound game, investigating different instruments, and learning new vocabulary.

They investigated how the string telephones worked, trying it through the door and outside. The children worked out that the string had to be tight for the phone to work. Next, they want to test if the sound was louder or quieter if you change the size of the cup. They concluded it did! The larger cups make a clearer, louder sound!

It was great to see the children so curious about their learning, making it a real child lead investigation and a great day for everyone involved!
