This week, Year 6 were getting to grips with a longer text.

Raider’s Peril is an online role playing game that Katka is completely obsessed with. In the role of Catanna – her avatar – she is the fearless leader of the Brittlestar guild. Destroying strongholds and looting treasure, the warrior is looked up to and admired by all of her guild members. During the school day however, Katka faces the same problems as everyone else. School work and the class clown, constantly disrupting her lessons weigh heavily on her mind. In Raider’s Peril, these two worlds collide.

As well as using this text as our daily reading focus, we have been taking inspiration from Raider’s Peril to begin laying the foundations of our very own adventure story. Year 6 have developed aspects of their own character as well as designed features of their own stronghold.

Moving forwards, we are hoping to incorporate these pieces of work into a longer piece of writing with the possibility of some ‘choose your own adventure’ style elements.
