Litter Picking to Keep our Forest Lovely

Year Three took part in some service learning today – they conducted a litter pick in the school grounds. The children used litter pickers and gloves to pick up waste materials to improve the look of our school environment and to protect animals from pollution. Some animals eat plastic waste because they do not know that it is harmful, this can lead to them becoming sick. Some plastic food wrapping can take hundreds of years to decompose and can release harmful toxins into the soil so it is important to place plastic waste into recycling bins.

The children did an amazing job of collecting up litter and their litter pick produced two black bin bags full of waste. The children wanted to take part in a litter pick as their English text this half-term is about reducing the waste plastic in our environment.
