Handa’s Fruit Salad.

The children in Reception have been enjoying their new class story of Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne. In school they were able to write a prediction about what they thought  Handa’s surprise would be. They had great ideas from a trip to New York to a giant chocolate cake.

After reading about the different fruits Handa was going to surprise her friend with, the children were inspired to make their own colourful fruit salads. With a home learning task at the weekend of drawing and labeling their own fruit salad they will filled with fruity ideas and ready to get creating in school Thursday.

They worked so well together, showing their virtues of team work and kindness, working beautifully to cut, mix, pour and finally eat the tasty treat. It was great to see children trying foods they have never tasted before and with such confidence. They went home talking about enjoying the new tangy flavors of passion fruit, mango and melon!
