Double, Double. Toil & Trouble …

This half term, Year 6 have been exploring the Shakespearean tale of Macbeth. This is a story a lot of people will be familiar with as it is a text that has been taught in Secondary schools for countless years.

The tale follows the tragic hero of Macbeth as he descends into madness. Arguably the events are caused by the prophecies of three otherworldly witches who set events in motions with their fortune telling ways. Midway through the action, Macbeth returns to visit them again which is when he is met with their famous words – Double, double, toil and trouble.

It was this spell which inspired the Year 6 children to create their own.
