Cooking up a Caribbean Spicy Storm!

Year three pupils cooked up a storm in the kitchen today! They made Caribbean food (as they are reading the book Gregory Cool, set in Tobago). Pupils made jerk chicken or vegetables, fried plantain and rice and peas! They followed the recipe and instructions carefully, measuring accurately to ensure the food was cooked to perfection. The delicious aromas of spices wafted through the school building and the children could not wait to eat the food…

There was courage shown by children, trying some new and different foods for the first time. Some children found the food a little spicy and the plantain was rather well done but overall the food was a great success! Many children want to eat plantain again and compared it to sweet potato chips. Jerk sauce was a big hot too with lots of pupils.
