To deepen our understanding chocolate, Year 4 have been learning about the different stage of the exciting process of making chocolate. The children created an amazing story board depicting each stage of the process. Their work highlighted the raw materials used and concentrated on the very important ingredient, the cacao bean. The extensive process of altering the naturally bitter taste of the cacao bean to the sweet and delicious dessert, that we know and love, is initially completed by hand. We also made a very interesting discovery – we learnt that white chocolate is not really chocolate! Simply because the mixture does not contain enough of that amazing raw material, the cacao bean.
