Year 1 have been busy developing their understanding of algorithms today. They can now confidently explain the importance of giving clear, precise instructions in the correct order. Everybody warmed up their brains by explaining to a robot how he should brush his teeth. Thankfully, nobody put the toothpaste on the brush first!

Next, the children thought carefully about the importance of using the cameras on their iPads effectively to take clear, unobstructed photographs which allowed the instructions to be followed correctly. A few blurry images may have had to be deleted along the way, but we definitely showed perseverance and got the hang of it by the end.

The pupils demonstrated fabulous teamwork to work in small groups to create a simple model using multicoloured cubes. Snapshots were taken each step of the way before Mrs Turner was challenged to see if she could follow the photographic instructions to recreate each model.

Mrs Turner is pleased to report that the instructions were so clear and purposeful that almost all models were built successfully.
