Let’s Go, Tokyo! is our annual mass dance programme for 2020-21, and with over 1500 dancers from schools and community settings across Barking & Dagenham and Essex, Let’s Go, Tokyo! has become our biggest dance project yet!

Starting in Autumn 2019, Let’s Go, Tokyo! is dna’s 5th mass dance project. Funded by Arts Council England, London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, Essex County Council, Active Essex, Essex2020 and with the support of ACE Culture Recovery Grant, we had to pause the programme in 2020, but as ever our dedicated groups jumped back up and from beginning to end, have risen to the challenges.

We now have whole school groups of 400 dancing together through to a smaller group of after-school dance clubs, some of whom began in early 2020, while others have only been dancing together for just a couple of months, all achieving wonderful success 1 Day 1 Dance 1000 Dancers!

Usually, our mass dance performance takes place at regional sporting events, at Essex Cricket Ground, Colchester Football Stadium, Jim Peters Stadium, but this year, due to circumstances, our unique programme became digital and we now have over 1500 dancers together on screen. We couldn’t be more proud.

We look forward to the dancers, families and friends, to see their hard work come together, as we premier Let’s Go, Tokyo! in time for the opening ceremony of Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics on Thursday 22 July 2021.
