TURNING POINT

Some of our Film students: Tabish Ahmed, Hannah Grace and Kelsey McClenaghan

We’re approaching FADE OUT in the final act of the A Level Film Studies course at Eastbrook.

It’s been four years since we made the switch from Media A Level so we could explore film in greater academic depth as well as offering practical filmmaking and screenwriting experience.

Just as the arts have suffered during the pandemic – with cinema, theatre and live music venues being deprived of audiences and content – so our students have had to adapt to changing times. Unable to engage in the social and collaborative process of filmmaking due to time constraints and distancing regulations, they instead turned their energies to screenwriting, producing some perfectly structured and refreshingly imaginative three act screenplays.

Hannah is about to start an online filmmaking internship before taking a year out before she takes up her place to study filmmaking at Aberystwyth University. Tabish is off to Kent to study Digital Film production whilst Kelsey is going to put her knowledge of character motivation to use in a degree in Criminal Investigation and Forensic Psychology at Southampton.

We wish them well on their new adventure.
