Week 2 – The Creative Thinkers

Students thoroughly enjoyed their second week in school with the Creative Thinkers Team. The days were broken up into three sessions. Session 1 gave the students the opportunity to catch up with online learning, which gave them focus for the day – supervised by the 3 teaching members of the team.

In Mr Mugombe’s sessions, students learnt about packaging before designing and making their own chocolate box packaging.  They also had fun whilst looking at a wide range of mind bending optical illusions and producing perspective street scene drawings. The final activity of the week involved making mobile phone stands, which students will no doubt make much use of.

In the FUN MATHS sessions with Mr Lipinski, the students had to solve a range of murder mystery activities. To solve a mystery, they had to demonstrate a number of skills taught in Maths lessons. For example, solving equations, sequences, properties of shapes, measuring angles, fractions of amounts to name just a few. They even managed to break some binary codes and most of them solved every single mystery. Well done!

In Ms McKee’s sessions, assisted by Mrs Sales, the students were ‘Cooking up a Storm’,     enhancing their cooking skills. Primary students joined us for a daily session. Lots of fun and learning, let’s hope the students roll up their sleeves at home and get creative in the kitchen.

Miss Timms was also part of the team and brought her professionalism and enthusiasm – even joining in with a few cooking sessions.

We couldn’t have managed without Mrs Etherington, Mr Osborne, Mr Acott, Canteen Staff and all the others who helped and supported, to make the week so successful.

Next week it is the turn of the ‘Team Disney’ to lead the students through another week of learning and interesting activities … Not sure if Micky or Minnie will be helping???
