Uniform Policy Reminder

We will be adhering to our Uniform Policy more strictly than has happened in the past. We are not changing the policy as whole but ensuring that we are raising expectations and standards across the school. Please seem information below regarding clarifications to the uniform policy.

Clarifications

  • Plain black tailored school trousers/plain black pleated knee length school skirt. – Skirts must be at least knee length and with no side splits. Skirts must not be rolled up. Jeans, jean style trousers and leggings are not allowed.
  • Black jumper or cardigan – No logos or patterns. Sweatshirts and hoodies are not allowed.
  • White shirt – These must be formal shirts and with a collar, not polo shirts. Shirts must be tucked in and top buttons done up.
  • Tie – Must be worn to the correct length.
  • Black shoes – Shoes must be plain black with black laces or a strap; no stripes; no logos. Shoes should be low-heeled. Low-heeled boots are acceptable only if worn with trousers. No DMs. No UGG boots. Trainers or canvas trainers are not allowed*; no high-tops or plimsolls.
  • Black socks or tights – Girls’ socks must be plain black and below the knee. Tights must be plain black, not patterned.
  • Dark coat – Must be dark and have no logos, patterns or markings of any kind and must be long enough to cover the blazer. These can be worn in the corridors but must be removed before entering a classroom.
  • Students who wish to wear a hijab should ensure it is plain black.
  • Headbands must be single width, plain black.
  • Belts should be plain black, single width, with no large buckles.
  • Watches – Students are permitted to wear a wristwatch (smart watches are allowed except for in examinations).
  • Jewellery – Students are permitted to wear one pair of plain studded earrings (No diamante or multiple earrings/studs). Students are not permitted to wear bracelets or rings for health and safety reasons. Face piercings, including nose and tongue piercings, are not permitted.
  • Nails – Students are not permitted to wear false nails on health and safety grounds. Nail varnish is not permitted.
  • Make up must be subtle.
  • False eyelashes are not permitted.
  • Hair – Extreme hairstyles are not appropriate for school. Children should not have decorative patterns cut into their hair or have hair coloured or dyed unnatural colours. Hair weaves must match the natural hair colour. Hair should be a minimum Grade 2 in length and above on all parts of the head and undercuts must be of the correct length. Lines must not be cut in to hair or eyebrows.
  • Students may wear any scarf or gloves/sunhat or sunglasses on the way to and from school or at breaks. These must not be worn anywhere inside the school building.

Equipment

All students require a school bag which will allow for A4+ sized books to fit inside without the edges becoming damaged. There are a number or items that a student needs in order to be able to take a full and active part in learning. All students should pack their bag with the following items every night:

  • Student planner
  • Pencil case with the following contents: 2 x black writing pens, 1 x green writing pen, 2 x highlighter pens, 2 x sharpened pencils, 1 x rubber, 1 x ruler.
  • Books/folders for that day
  • Current reading book

*Following consultation with the school community, the introduction of school shoes will be delayed until September 2023
