Shall I Compare Thee To…. an Olympic Cauldron?

Twenty-five budding Eastbrook poets visited the Museum of London today as part of the Young City Poet scheme offered by the National Literacy Trust.

The museum houses both the prototype of the 2012 Olympic Cauldron and the original GB torch which was lit during the two week ceremony.

Students were shown both of these objects, which were then used to inspire them to write their own ballads about athletes.

The first drafts are complete and our writers now look forward to a visit from published poet, Laila Sumpton, who will visit Eastbrook School on Monday 10th February to help our poets edit and revise their work.

All poems are then entered for a competition – and successful entries will be published in an anthology and performed at a festival at the Tower of London. We hope that ours make it through.
