The English Department have been working on retrieval practice as a focus for this year. As part of developing this practice GCSE classes have been using various strategies to access information stored in Long Term memory. One of the methods trialed in a class was a Class Quiz. The class were divided into groups and teachers took on the role of Quizmaster. This quiz was designed around the novella Jekyll and Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Students have completed the novella and had returned from half-term so this was a perfect opportunity to dust off the cobwebs and put their knowledge to the test. The results were close but the bonus round secured the win for team ‘5Minds’. They were awarded with a temporary cup which they received with Queen ‘We are the Champions’ playing in the background. They were humble and graceful winners and their dedication and team work meant it was a well-deserved win!
