Year 7s have been exploring the Evolution of Poetry in their English lessons.

They have chronologically mapped the evolution on timelines. This will be great for improving their understanding of the origins of poetry and the importance literature has had through the course of social and political change.

Not only has this given them space to develop their creative flair, but this will also support them through their English career as they return to poetry in Year 8 to study Gender Representations in poetry. Students will continuously return to poetry in preparation for their GCSE Poetry component.

Poetry is a fantastic tool for students to use to express themselves and can be used to incite social change. We would like to encourage any aspiring poets to use their voices and engage in poetry!
