Year 10 – Religious Studies of Judaism – Milestones in Judaism

This term, students have continued their studies into the practices of Judaism, through the understanding of the Shabbat and major life milestones for practitioners of Judaism. Students have explored the importance of festivals and rituals surrounding life and death, the milestones for males and females, the rituals for funerals and the importance of remembrance of the Holocaust and the Exodus from Eygpt (The story of Moses).

The topics covered so far are: Shabbat, Birth Ceremonies, Bar Mitzvah/ Bat Mitzvah, Marriage, Death, the Funeral and mourning, and Jewish Festivals such as Yom Kippur and Passover.

Students have been producing fantastic analytical and discussion papers on each of the topics above.
