Eastbrook Photography Students Judge the Professionals

Year 10 GCSE Photography students experienced the opportunity of a lifetime today, when they where invited to participate in the judging of this year’s Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize, at the Photographers’ Gallery in central London.

The gallery exhibition presents the nominated projects from this year’s shortlisted artists, Anastasia Samoylova, Jo Ractliffe, Deana Lawson and Gilles Peress. Each of the projects display a unique perspective on pictorial representation, with the artists taking a distinctive approach to the medium of photography and focusing on subject matter linked to a specific region or community.

Our students absolutely loved the experience of visiting the gallery and contributing to the judging. Here you can see Rachael Lawal and Toki Adebiyi standing next to their chosen favourite image.

The students were also treated to a display of iconic album covers, featuring work from such photographic and artistic luminaries as Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, David Bailey, David LaChapelle, Ed Ruscha, Elliott Erwitt, Guy Bourdin, Helen Levitt, Irving Penn, Jeff Wall, Joseph Beuys, Juergen Teller, Lee Friedlander, Nan Goldin, Richard Avedon, William Eggleston and more.

Well done to our excellent photographers – we are PROUD of your commitment!
