Eastbrook Launches Careers Curriculum

Eastbrook School has embedded careers and future pathways learning into the curriculum for all KS4 students. All Year 10 and 11 students undertake one session per week, with the focus on:

  • Career Pathways.
  • Post 16 & 18 Education.
  • Developing Character & Employability; professional workplace skills and virtues
  • Self-Discovery; personality; preferred ways of learning and working from home.

Students will benefit greatly from presentations by a range of professionals from the world of work, in a range of industries. Here we can see Year 11 students receiving a presentation live online from Scott Rolph, Global Head of Continuous Improvement & Cost Transformation at BT Global. Scott presented his own career path over 21 years within BT and guided students with advice on apprenticeships. Thank you so much Scott for making an important contribution to our students’ education.

Year 11 student Bapite said: “Thank you for these career lessons as it has already started to impact the way I think and my attitude towards tasks and challenges. My older sister runs her own graphics business and she recently came to me with a task to do as she had quite a lot on her hands. I quickly thought back to the recent lesson on attributes employers look for. I thought I should improve my problem-solving skills and that would mean I would have to start taking tasks on headfirst. I did just that and was able to complete her task.”

We are pleased you are already benefitting from the curriculum Bapite!
