Black Excellence Portrait Competition

The Visual Arts department, including Mr Nathan, Ms Bainbridge and Ms Lambert, provided students with an opportunity to use their artistic skills to create a portrait of an inspirational black person who represents Black Excellence. We had some amazing entries, consisting of drawing, painting, photography and graphic designs, that were personal, relevant and of high quality.

After much consideration, cogitation and compromise, the Visual Arts department along with the help from Black Excellence team, including Ms Basir, Ms Morson, Mr Onwuejeogwu and Mr Glanville, selected the winners and ‘special mentions’ from a field of expensive and exquisite art collections. A special recognition to Mr Zah, a student-teacher, who helped with the adjudication.

Some of the top entries included

Wazid Chwdury (8D)- Best Digital

Raiyan Ahmed (9H) – Best Drawing

Allegra Mihai (7E) – Best Historic Representation

Jola Aliu (9A) – Best Photography

Many thanks to all the students who participated in the event. Yet again, our students rose to the challenge of demonstrating their talent and creativity, showcasing why we are PROUD and the importance of why Black Excellence is central to our ethos at Eastbrook School.
