This year’s UKMT (National Maths Challenge) was one with a twist due to the pandemic and pupils being in lockdown during the time of the test. The preparation was tough because the children could not meet together face to face and practice as they would normally do, but this did not stop our Eastbrook students.
All preparations and the actual test was done on Microsoft Teams. This showed how our students were open to new challenges.
They showed resilience by their commitment throughout the whole process, and this audacious showcase for love of maths paid off when the result was released.
Freya Staples achieved the silver certificate, which is rare to achieve nationally, making her the best certificate holder in school, she is going through to the next round.
Ayesha Noor was overall best in her year group with a bronze certificate, along with others who earned a bronze certificate, Ibtisam Mussa and Dafe Simon.
On the whole, our students have made us PROUD indeed.
The UKMT junior maths challenge is on the way ‘so watch this space’…
