Year 1 were fortunate enough to take part in an interactive online safety workshop today with ‘The 2 Johns’. Both Johns are ex-police officers who are full of good advice and top tips to help everybody in our Eastbrook family use the internet safely.

The interactive session began with a quiz. Everybody was flabbergasted by the amount of knowledge that the Year 1 children had about online gaming, apps and famous YouTubers. Seeing first hand that our children were so familiar with the content shown to them was a real stark reminder of why this workshop was so essential. Next, any questions and worries that the children had were tackled, before ending the session by watching ‘Lee and Kim’s adventure story’. This animation really helped the children to see that ‘characters’ that we meet in games are actually real people from the real world.

The whole experience definitely opened up a really curious dicussion and left us with a lot of food for thought. All of the Year 1 children are going to try and persuade their grown ups at home to join in with the parent workshop this evening.
