Using our current Power of Reading text, ‘The lonely Beast’, Year 1 have today had to put their powers of persuasion to the test. The children have been doing a lot of mature thinking about the dilemma that the local mayor faces regarding whether or not the Beast should be allowed to stay living in the city’s park. To help them solve this tricky problem, the children completed a conscience alley activity. As the mayor walked through the middle, they were given reasons both for and against allowing the Beast to remain in the park, amongst the humans. The mayor had to consider all of the reasons carefully before making their final decision.
The outcome was… THE BEAST CAN STAY!!
Look how proud of themselves our ‘for’ team are. Rightly so as they gave some really strong, persuasive reasons and explained them beautifully.
