During today’s maths lesson, Year 1 children have successfully combined their prior knowledge of positional language, in particular ‘left and right’, with their current learning about ordinal numbers.

After showing off all of their skills practically, the children displayed very productive teamwork to move onto the concept pictorially. The children worked together to hang up their dirty washing on the washing line and then formed sentences such as, ‘The jumper is 3rd from the right’ to describe the position of different items.
