This week, Year 6 have been tackling the tough topic of Algebra in their maths sessions. Monday saw them getting to grips with letters in their maths calculations and recognising that they simply stand in for unknown amounts.

The rest of the week involved expressing a range of calculations algebraically and completing calculations if the letters were replaced with numeric values.

The week culminated in the children applying their knowledge to a range of word problems. After initially feeling anxious about the prospect, they found themselves giving algebra the thumbs up!
