The change to the role play area in the Reception’s outside area saw a lot of engaged children this Monday morning. Spending the next few weeks looking into where their food comes from and how to prepare certain vegetables, a pizza parlor was voted in by the children. They showed off their mark marking skills by writing orders and recipes; they strengthened their fine motor skills by making play dough toppings and secured their Maths knowledge of 2D shapes by making shape pizzas.

This role play has allowed for lots of child lead imaginative play, in which the children have shown their ability to play with their peers and take into account their feelings and needs. Next week they are going to be designing their own veggie pizzas, preparing the vegetables and even cooking the mini pizzas themselves!
