Stone Age Forest

To start our new History topic of ‘Stone Age to Bronze Age’ Year Three set off on an adventure in the forest! Firstly, they searched the forest for food that people would have eaten during the Stone Age, they found mushrooms, nettles for tea, berries and acorns. We made sure that we did not eat any of the produce, the stomach’s of Stone Age people were much stronger than ours! Next they found some branches of wood and discussed how people in the past would have transformed them into weapons. Lastly, they learnt how to light a fire with a flint and steel. Children were mesmerised by the sparks generated! Mrs. Fernandes demonstrated how to toast some marshmallows, which were delicious, however we discussed that in the past this would have probably been a rabbit! We had a wonderful morning at the forest and cannot wait to go back soon.
