Measures of fun

This week in Year Four, we had a practical application for our learning in maths. We have been learning how to convert between different units of measure and to support our understanding we used a trundle wheel and the playground. We worked in groups to measure the differently sized rectangular shapes within our playground. After which the amazing year fours were able to convert the lengths and widths from meters into centimeters and then even into kilometers. In additional to all that measuring, our mathematical geniuses were able to then accurately calculate the area and perimeter of the shape. The children also enjoyed using a new and different type of equipment.
