Keeping Safe Online in Year 3

Year Three pupils learnt how to keep safe online today as part of Safer Internet Day. They took part in a Now Press Play role play, in the scenario they discussed decisions and actions made by the characters and whether they were the correct ones. Pupils learnt new vocabulary such as, viral and screenshot.

They also took part in a questioning exercise, whereby the pupils made decisions and moved to different parts of the classroom based on their decisions. They discovered that pupils preferred to play games on a tablet as opposed to a console and that they prefer to play games rather than watch an expert playing games.

Pupils were eager to take part in a multiple choice quiz, they thought about a situation and decided on what would be the best response. Pupils highlighted their choices by holding up whiteboards and then went on to explain why their choice was the appropriate action.

Lastly, pupils coloured in a chart to highlight some of the things they take part in online, for example watching cartoons, completing homework or learning songs. The children realised today that we use the internet all the time in our daily lives and they are aware of how to keep themselves safe.
